Donald Trump responds to Jay-Z

Image
Like clockwork, Donald Trump has responded to criticisms of his presidency expressed by Jay-Z in his Van Jones interview , which aired Saturday night. Jay-Z condemned Trump's remarks about "shithole countries," among other views held by the president, to which Trump fired back in a tweet Sunday morning. "Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!" he wrote. Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED! In his interview, Jay-Z called Trump's "shithole countries" remarks "hurtful," and also shared an analogy of how the president's election was the result of sweeping issues like racism under the rug rather than facing them head-on. He brought up Donald Sterling, who he feels should have jumpstarted a larger conversation rather than simply removed

Why YFM's not playing my music

Image
Rapper Cassper Nyovest has accused radio channel YFM of not playing his music. The rapper explains that the reason the Gauteng based radio station doesn’t play his records is because SABC1 sponsored his famous #FillUpFNBStadium concert last fall. “YFM doesn’t play my music because SABC 1 sponsored #FillUpFNBStadium and I tweeted about it and now they want me to apologise. They are a very strong platform that I used to love but they are bullies! We are going to stay shining though,” he wrote on social media. YFM’s station manager however denies Cassper’s claims. “YFM would like to reaffirm that we continue to support local music as we always have. Regarding Cassper Nyovest’s recent comments on social media, the station would like to reassure Cassper, Family Tree and all South African artists that the station always has and will continue to playlist good South African music in line with our music strategy and policies. When South African artists do great things, we celebrate in their

Stampede Mars Distruction Boyz Homecoming Show

Image
A homecoming show to celebrate Omunye phezu komunye hitmakers Distruction Boyz was rocked by violence and a stampede this past weekend in KwaMashu, Durban. Concertgoers stormed the gate and overpowered security at the Artizen Restaurant and Lounge on Saturday evening, after being told that tickets to an event featuring Distruction Boyz were sold out and the venue was filled to capacity. The gate was pushed off its hinges and barricades were destroyed as people mobbed the venue, forcing organisers to open an overflow area to stop people from getting trampled in the stampede. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the venue’s manager Sphiwe Ndlovu said there was minor damage to property but no injuries were reported and police weren’t called to the scene. “Everything was handled alright. Of course we would like to have avoided the situation but no one was hurt. We have learnt valuable lessons and next time we will deal with such events better.” He disputed claims that concertgoers were harassed a

Cassper Nyovest in trouble

Rapper Cassper Nyovest has refused to answer questions regarding a pending R3 million lawsuit against him from a production company, after he allegedly destroyed property during an interview, which turned violent. Rawbust Productions has sent a letter of demand to the musician claiming the alleged altercation led to damages and loss of income. The legal document, which TshisaLIVE is in possession of, claims a member of the production company, Tusko D, approached Cassper for an interview at the South African Hip-Hop Awards at Gold Reed City in December, 2017. The company alleges Cassper turned violent when he was asked to confirm a claim he made about reaching a record breaking 10 million record sales in his career. Cassper’s claim that he sold 10 million records received much controversy after DJ Maphorisa publicly questioned the statement. It was unclear whether Cassper meant 10 million record sales or included streams. Rawbust alleges Cassper threatened to damage the camera equi

Something Soweto - "I'm not a one hit wonder"

Samkelo “ Samthing Soweto” Mdolomba may have given Mzansi one of the biggest songs of 2017 with Akanamali but he doesn’t believe that he will ever be seen as a one-hit wonder. Several months after the release of the song, the single continues to grab attention both here and abroad. Rapper Cassper Nyovest even revealed that US hit music producer Swizz Beatz had enquired about the track. Sam told TshisaLIVE he had received several requests from artists overseas to work with him after the release of the song, but was keeping his cards close to his chest. “I heard about Swizz Beatz through Cassper and it is humbling. I have written so many songs and I never thought that it would be the one to get this much attention because it took me like, an hour, to write it. It is really humbling. I have been approached a few times from international artists, but nothing has been signed yet. I was surprised how much the song took off. I never thought the song would be significant outside of South Af

Emtee and Flame in hot beef

Image
Rapper Emtee has never been one to keep his mouth shut when he feels disrespected and the Roll Up hitmaker once again found himself in the midst of a fiery Twitter war, labelling his rival a “Travis Scott wannabe ass n*gga”. Emtee stole headlines in 2017 after beefing with the likes of Yung Swiss, Cruz Afrika and Cassper Nyovest and seemed to continue the habit in 2018 by taking shots at rival and former Ambitiouz Entertainment rapper Flame. Emtee was obviously tired of being asked about his relationship with his former label mate and took to Twitter to take shots at the star. “Hey y’all need to stop asking me about Flame. Never f*cked with him first time I saw him. Someone tell that kid I don’t know him! He should stop acting like he know me. I ain’t never had (a) conversation with the clown. Ever! Travis Scott wannabe ass n*gga.” Flame wasn’t having any of it and soon launched his own attack on Emtee , warning him that his days were numbered. “Somebody tell this f*ck nigga Emte
