AKA takes shots at his rival: You can't disown your own people & then want to lead them

Image
BY  KYLE ZEEMAN Tshepo bareetseng blog AKA has bulldozed into the debate over South Africa and Nigerian music, telling his rivals and fans who think Nigeria is better to fix their lives. The rapper, who is no stranger to the odd Twitter rant, called a Twitter general assembly on Monday evening to address those who claimed Nigeria was better for artists and wished they were from that country.  " You wish you were what?! F*ck outta here, bruv!  South Africa is a f*cking miracle, and being South African is a f*cking honor and a privilege. Don’t let anyone ever tell you any other nonsense!  Don’t ever be shy about being proud of your country. That is what we can learn from Nigeria!" His comments came just hours after his rival Cassper Nyovest told a Nigerian fan that he sometimes wished he was Nigerian because of the support he would get from the country. "Won't even lie. I wish I was from Nigeria too. The love they have for their own artists. The way the...

“I Was Tired” – Emtee

Image
Rapper Emtee has addressed the circumstances around his dramatic collapse on stage in July, claiming he was suffering from exhaustion and that he was “played” by being so open about the addictions his critics blamed for the fall. Emtee recently returned to the spotlight after a near month-long recovery break in Bloemfontein. He had gone to ground after a video of him “collapsing” on stage during a performance went viral. The fiasco also led to calls for the rapper to get professional help amidst alcohol and drug abuse allegations. Speaking about the fall on Metro FM Emtee claimed he was exhausted and disorientated prior to the performance and had expected something like that to happen sooner or later. “It was confusing because I had just woken up from a long drive from Joburg to Limpopo and immediately I was jumping on stage. A lot of things were already confusing me. I think I was overwhelmed. I was tired. The fall came from being pulled by the people....

Known Stranger- LinkAge

Image
By Tshepo Bareetseng Entertainment, Local, Music, News, Breaking News LinkAge is the name. A passionate 22 year old from Braamfischerville Phase 1 is set to release his Mixtape named ‘Known Stranger’. LinkAge who was formally known as Trigger says he realised in early 2016 that music to him, was no longer a dream, was rather a calling. It’s something he has to do, face it and deal with it. LinkAge is set to release a Ten-track mixtape which he named “Known Stranger”, because people know his music but don’t really know him as an Artist in the Hip-hop industry. “I am a stranger, but I’m known, they know my songs, but they don’t know who I am”, LinkAge added. He says he used to download Free-Type–Beats on the internet to record, hence why he couldn’t release the music on digital platforms, because it was not original, even though he had abilities of manipulating Free-Type-Beats and wrote every lyric on the tracks, ...

Bigger than you

Image
2 Chainz “Bigger Than You” [ft. Drake & Quavo] “Bigger Than You,” 2 Chainz’s new one-off single with Quavo and Drake, begins modestly: Quavo sounds plugged in but uninspired, and the beat thumps half-heartedly. Then 2 Chainz saunters up, offering, "Chain so big, shoulda came with a kickstand,” and yes, now we’re listening. He can still stop a rote rap song in its tracks like he’s lunging for closing elevator doors, and this far into his best-guest-rapper-alive dominance, it's tempting to start thinking of him as the best: He has kept his spirit antic and imagination vivid longer than, say, previous holders of this crown, Luda or Nicki. On “Bigger Than You,” he towers genially over Quavo as well as Drake, who rattles off a few decent lines about nothing much and, perhaps studiously, about no one in particular—he briefly remembers a woman who made fun of his singing but otherwise sinks into the background as 2 Chainz...

Lil Baby and say 'Yes Indeed'

Image
The Atlanta rapper Lil Baby is the latest in a string of recent Drake endorsements that also includes BlocBoy JB and Octavian. Baby isn’t as exciting a prospect as either of those artists, but he does seem poised for a breakthrough. His collaboration with Drake, “Yes Indeed” (formerly known as “ Pikachu”), unfortunately splits the difference between dispassionate and marble-mouthed, but there are still quotables hidden in their sharply pivoting verses. “Yes Indeed” is produced by Wheezy, and so Drake connects the dots to the Weezy that made him , reflecting on his rap origins with string of muttered run-ons that hardly seem to break. “When I started out, I just took what they gave me/Did all the favors, they never repaid me/It worked in my favor, ‘cause nobody saved me,” he murmurs. In a roundabout way, the verse—and to a greater extent the song—is Drake coaching up rookies like Lil Baby, all while acknowledging th...

Khanyi Mbau puts bling queen days behind her

Image
     Khanyi Mbau. Picture Credit: Instagram "People tend to get attached and stuck to whatever image they have and forget that in life everything always has a new model," says Khanyi Mbau. "The house you live in, two years later there will be a new design, the same with the car you drive and cellphone you use. That is the same theory you should apply to your brand." The queen of reinvention takes some time to chat to me after a full day of errands and just before she starts reading her scripts for the week. It's a juggling act she's playing lately, far from the "famous for being famous" tag of old. Mbau established herself in the industry as the Queen of Bling and the Lamborghini-driving party girl. Today she is a far cry from that and is gaining critical acclaim for her stellar performance in Mzansi Magic's new Sunday drama series Abomama. "I am overwhelmed and speechless. I mean, it is still sinking in, I am trying to come t...

Image
22 year old South African actress Natasha Thahane has dismissed claims that herself and rapper A-Reece dated. The New York Film Academy graduate was believed to have dated A-Reece at a point and they even set relationship goals for the Mgani video, performed by A-reece off his paradise album. Natasha told Lasizwe on Massiv Metro last week, that she friendzoned Reece. “I was so good at my job. When people even started believing that I am actually in a relationship with this person. No. Never. I am a professional friendzoner. I didn’t even want to kiss him in the first video. The second one, I was like, ‘hmmm, okay.’ But I am a professional friendzoner.” A-Reece however was nicer in his explanation of things. “We just bumped into each other genuinely and it’s always a nice time because it is Natasha. She is bright. She always has some nice, smart things to say and it always puts me in line,” he told Zaziwa earlier this month.

Maintenance drama is not over for constitutional law expert and political analyst Shadrack Gutto. Constitutional law expert and political analyst Professor Shadrack Gutto had the book thrown at him by his baby mama resulting in him being a wanted man. The news comes after the retired University of South Africa (Unisa) academic and his lawyers allegedly failed three times to pitch at the Atteridgeville Magistrate's Court for his child maintenance case. Gutto, 67, allegedly failed to show up at three consecutive court dates which were meant to interrogate his R11000 extra income from an investment account which he had allegedly failed to declare to the court when an interim order was made towards the support of his minor child. Emtee told TshisaLIVE that he won't deny that he was smoking a cigar when a group of kids approached for pictures ‚ but said it was not intentional. "No man‚ it was all a misunderstanding‚ yes I was smoking but I don't smoke in front of kids. The person who claimed they saw me smoking‚ didn't actually see what was going on. Why The Soil’s Success Hurt Me – Samthing Soweto

Image
Music star Samthing Soweto has revealed why the success of music band The Soil hurt me. The singer back in the day left the group to pursue a solo career. “At first I was really a little ashamed of it (being a member of The Soil) because I was not part of the success when they blew up. I was working with them, crafting this whole sound, before it became mainstream. So to see them doing all these amazing things without me in the middle, it was really depressing and I tried to run away from it,” he told Times Live. Sam has since gone on to achieve mainstream success of his own, topping the charts recently with his single Akanamali. “What’s funny is the sound that we eventually crafted with The Soil was inspired by my time in prison. When I was there, there was a type of singing that they did, which is very acapella type singing. It is very prison-based. I took that and thought how could I make it very palatable. The topics went from prison to love and from bass ...
