For his last and final night performing at Madison Square Garden, Drake decided to go “all the way up” and bring Fat Joe and J. Cole on stage. Throughout his Summer Sixteen Tour with Future, which launched in late July, Drake has been tapping rappers and artists left and right to make things even more memorable. Rihanna made an appearance during his stop in Toronto (which doubled as OVO Fest) and Kanye West showed up in Chicago.
Drake had nothing but nice things to say about Cole, calling him “one of the smartest, greatest, most legendary artists of our generation.” Cole performed his hit single “No Role Modelz” and “A Tale Of 2 Citiez” off his album 2014 Forest Hills Drive. He also performed a song on which he’s featured, Jeremih’s “Planez” (via XXL).
While closing out the show, Drake continued addressing the rumors that he’s beefing with Eminem. A New York radio DJ began those rumors (and helped fuel the beef between Meek Mill and Drake last summer), and Drake seems to be wearying of it all. For every show he’s held at MSG this week, he’s been dissing and denying any animosity between himself and Em. Instead, he’s taken aim at the DJ who keeps running his mouth.
A fan caught the final words Drake shared with the audience. “Shout out to everybody tonight that touched this stage, it was a lot of people. This is the real Summer Jam. What have they done for New York lately? I don’t know” (via XXL).
