Jennifer Hudson’s Wardrobe Is Packed With Versatile Pieces

Jennifer Hudson’s busy schedule means her clothes have to be interchangeable from day to night.
The singer and actress has a packed schedule at the moment, recently signing with Epic Records to work on her fourth studio album and joining the cast of Hairspray Live! which is set to be broadcast in December (16).
Accordingly, the mother-of-one explains that juggling her various projects and appearances requires a wardrobe of pieces which are very versatile.
“I have a lot of things to do throughout the day, being a mom, going to work,” she told WWD. “It just varies, I like to make sure my clothes are interchangeable, they’re comfortable and they look good at the same time. I’m a working woman.”
Jennifer, 34, has also just marked the one-year anniversary of her collaboration with New York & Company on their denim line Jennifer Hudson for Soho Jeans. Featuring a range of modern bootcuts and super sleek skinny jeans, the line has a modern and fashion-forward aesthetic.
And the Dreamgirls star is adamant that denim is her go-to warm weather wardrobe staple, in spite of the heat.
“When it’s summer, that means a lot of air conditioning. Somebody like myself, I get cold a lot. I feel like the denim helps keep you warm at times, but it’s still cool enough to wear in the summer,” she shared.
Jennifer also has a favourite piece in the range, a light denim jacket with her initials “JH” embroidered onto a patch on the back. Of the personalised look, she says that the patch reminds her of a modern sort of brooch.
“I like brooches – to me the patch is a younger version of a brooch,” she explained. “(They) give you something to play with, add to things. Switch it up.”
